Beschreibung

Philosophy of education has a great tradition since the times of Plato, Aristotle, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Augustine, Russell, Whitehead and Dewey. All these thinkers discussed different educational problems and also found solutions in their philosophical point of view. They may be conservatives or liberals in their attitude towards education, but their ideological impact led to tremendous implications in educational systems through out the world. Contemporary Indian thinkers also expressed their deep and elaborate ideas in educational system and tried to implement them in order to keep the values of ancient India. They expressed their views openly to meet the need of the hour, keeping the traditional philosophy of education suitable for modern times. Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore and Radhakrishnan, tried to introduce education in a practical manner and to keep the religious values according to the religion of various people. They are secular in practical ideology, but their blend of mind is towards ancient system of education giving importance to traditional values.
